报告人:廖益,南开大学物理科学学院教授。曾获得教育部新世纪人才支持计划(2006年度)、国家杰出青年科学基金(2010年度)资助。从事粒子物理学、量子场论方面的教学和研究工作。目前的研究工作集中在超越粒子物理标准模型的新物理方向,包括中微子质量产生机制及其唯象学、暗物质粒子及探测的理论研究。

摘要: In this talk I’ll start with introducing the general approach of effective field theory. Then I recall briefly the history of research on nuclear beta decays. I’ll spend most of time describing the effective field theories for beta decays at both the quark and nucleon levels and their connection. I’ll review the current experimental status on the decays and their comparison with the standard model predictions and their constraints on high energy new physics. The potential neutron lifetime anomaly is also briefly discussed together with an example of possible new physics interpretation. I summarize with some comments on perspectives in this field.
